Brand spotlight - Aoshima

Brand spotlight - Aoshima

It's quite appropriate the first brand name we'll be highlighting is Aoshima, since it's the first brand we ever carried, and as of this writing, the only brand we have on our shelves!  (There is more coming, honest.)

The name Aoshima may be new to you, but it's actually been around since the Twenties; it was founded in 1924 as an aircraft research institute.  It began making wooden airplane models for Japanese schools in the Thirties, and branched out into plastic model kits in the Sixties.

Aoshima's subject matter is varied and wide; aircraft, ships, cars, trucks, spacecraft, military vehicles, and giant mechs from film, TV, and comics.  They make a truly dizzying array of cars, from run-of-the-mill cars and trucks to wildly-modified tuner specials to famous and infamous vehicles from the big- and small-screen.

Aoshima's kits are very high-quality, featuring crisp tooling and intricate details.  They are often moulded in two or more colours, so they can be built as glue bombs and still look good on the shelf.

And those wheels!  We cannot say enough about the realistic rubber tires and finely detailed wheels that come with Aoshima kits.  Aoshima also offers wheel sets separately, and we will be carrying them, for all you kitbashers out there.

We've built a few Aoshimas over the years, and we've been impressed with the fitment of parts, the ease of assembly, and the clarity of the illustrated instructions.

Overall, Aoshima delivers a high-quality kit that is easy to assemble and produces fabulous results, at a very reasonable price.  Check out our Aoshima kits in our Products section or in-store today!  You won't be disappointed!
